The Cause of “Something More” Syndrome And How To Heal It

Free Yourself From That “Something More” Feeling

Does this sound familiar?

Each morning, when you wake up, you’re plagued with the same thoughts and feelings.

You realize you have a nagging sense of knowing, a deep intuition, that there’s “something more” that you want be doing, living, and feeling.

At first, you think, it’s dissatisfaction with your career? Then you consider it’s time to buy a new house? Maybe it’s time for another child? But, after all the rational and logical attempts to heal your “something more”…

You admit you can’t seem to put your finger on “it”, you just keep plugging away each day, waiting for lightening to strike, or a guardian angel to send you a sign that will help you break free from the pain.

And every once in a while, when you take stock of the last year that’s just gone by, you realize that 2, 3, 5, maybe even 7 years have gone by, (God forbid, a lifetime)…

And you still haven’t identified what your “something more” is.

You’re not alone!

I call it, simply, the “something more” syndrome – And honestly, for many, it’s as baffling as trying to relieve common medical problems.

It nags away at your spirit.  It creates melancholy and even low grade depression.

For some people it causes mental distress and anxiety – as they continuously wonder “What is wrong with me?” and “Why can’t I figure this out?”

It can be a common source of insomnia when it occupies your thoughts every night as you’re trying to fall asleep.

It doesn’t put you in any acute, life threatening danger.

No, it’s something that just hangs out in the periphery of your life slowly taking away your joy and enthusiasm for living.

If you talk to your doctor about it he/she will offer you hormones or anti-depressants. But, you don’t really think you’re feeling “bad enough” for that. Yet you might ponder, “Well, maybe a low dose won’t hurt me for the short term?” And then you wake up one day to discover you’ve been taking meds for your “something more” affliction for a few years now.

Or maybe you make an appointment with your therapist to talk it out and get to the bottom of it, but after numerous sessions you still feel the same.

You tell yourself, you have a great family, a good life, a career that’s going great.  You rationalize like many spiritual folks do, that you have SO much to be grateful for!

And yet, still, every morning you wake up feeling like there must be “something more”.

You’ve taken up some new hobbies.  You gone on several retreats thinking that you’d find you’re “something more” in a tropical oasis or yoga camp?  You’ve met some new friends. But still…

At last, I’ve got some answers for you… the cause of your “something more” syndrome and how you can nip it right in the bud.

“Something more” syndrome is caused when we disconnect our body from our higher, soul self.

It’s the experience of “checking out” of your body after a traumatic experience and not being able any more.

It’s the experience of cutting yourself off from your inner light.

It’s the experience of giving yourself away, or giving away your power.

It’s the experience of not knowing or trusting who you are because you’re too afraid to look inside.

It’s the experience of believing that the answers are outside of you or held by someone else.

It’s the experience that causes many people to succumb to addictions just to be able to feel something again, even if only for a short while.  (Take it from someone that used to have a VERY addictive personality).

Something more syndrome slowly eats away at your life. It keeps you running in circles just wishing, wanting, waiting…to fill the void.

But it DOESN’T have to be this way.

You can heal “something more” syndrome.

But, you’ll have to be willing to give up something of a lower nature to receive the good that comes from unlocking the missing piece and reconnecting with your true self.

You’ll have to stop looking outside yourself.

You’ll have to sit down. You’ll have to sit still.

You’ll have to trust yourself. You’ll have to value yourself.

You’ll have to believe that you’re worth it.

You’ll have to risk losing people that don’t value you.

You’ll have to risk losing people that don’t value themselves.

You’ll have to invest in yourself. You’ll have to put yourself first.

You’ll have to be responsible for your own happiness.

You’ll have to save yourself first.  You’ll have to let go of your desire to save other people.

You’ll have to stop playing games with yourself.

You’ll have to acknowledge your soul.

You’ll have to acknowledge your divinity.

You’ll have to grow. You’ll have to stretch. You’ll have to love yourself.

You’ll have to see your greatness. You’ll have to believe you’re worthy, of yes, “something more.”

The only thing standing between you and “something more” is you believing that you deserve and can have “something more”.

Still here? Great!

Here’s my number one tip to help you start healing “something more” syndrome, today.

Create a daily stillness practice!

Yes, it REALLY is that SIMPLE.

In this space of stillness is where you’ll find your “something more”. It’s where you’ll connect to your life force. It’s where you’ll recover your “self”.  It’s where you’ll fill yourself up!

It’s where you can feel, hear, and see your “something more”.  Stillness speaks!

You don’t have to open your crown our third eye!  You don’t have to connect with archangels or guides. You don’t have to tap your way to “something more”.

You don’t have to learn the newest and best healing techniques. You don’t have to find a new therapist or healer, (but you will find the one that’s inside you).

You don’t have to book an expensive retreat to find “something more”.

It’s not about getting meditation right.

It’s not “out there”.

“Something more” is the place you let go of, the self-love in you that you abandoned when you checked out of your feeling body.

It’s not your little girl/boy or inner child. She is lovely, but she’s not what you’re craving.

It’s not your shadow side you need to embrace so you can get through to the light.

“Something More?”  It’s just plain and simple, the desire to experience YOU – All of you.

It’s the desire to feel you, your true, pure essence. In you, as you — to feel connected to yourself, your soul. With nothing else in the way.

And in this place you will come to know pure peace and feel the eternal you — that knows no limitations, no boundaries.

The YOU that knows that this was all you ever needed to do to make a difference in this life.

Everything else is just a joy-full bonus!

For several years I was my brother’s champion. Took him to appointments. Hoped with him for a kidney donor. Since he passed, I’ve felt lost. Don’t know what my life’s purpose is. Retirement is on the horizon. But it feels as if I’m waiting for a train, uncertain where it will take me and I don’t even know if I’m at the right station.

      Hi Marybeth!
I’m so sorry to hear about your brother and your loss. That kind of loss and grief can leave you feeling “lost” for sure. How long has it been since he passed? What have you done to work through your loss and grief? Some energy healing techniques can help move and dissipate the feeling of grief in your heart center. Have you tried any?
