Energy Healing Tips to Change Unwanted Habits: Why does it seem so hard to move away from a bad habit?
How do we break free of the hold that these patterns have on us? It’s pretty much the million dollar question, isn’t it?
So many people reach out to me, desperate to create change and healing…they want to stop repeating certain unhealthy behaviors, and they’re struggling to find success.
So what’s been coming up the last few weeks?
I’ve had several clients ask me how to stop drinking too much wine in the evenings. Even if you’re not a wine drinker…this post applies to making any kind of long-term, positive change!
A handful of clients that are trying to change this behavior pattern have said they start out thinking that they’ll just enjoy a glass of wine with dinner and then it turns into two or three, and the next morning they feel foggy and lethargic and then guilty for going against themselves.
This a fairly normal ‘struggle” for many, when you haven’t learned to balance the energy in your body.
It can apply to any situation where we’re feeling discomfort and trying to “self-medicate” because that’s what we do, to try not to feel something.
But in the long run we know we’re going against ourselves and it’s not a really good solution.
There’s a lot of considerations going on in the back ground here. I consider myself very fortunate, (having been a real party-girl in the past), that as I dug deep into my healing journey I naturally out grew my desire for alcohol.
Say what? Yes, it’s true. The deeper I went into my personal spiritual essence, I felt such deep peace and love–the need to drink wine to feel better or relieve the tension of the day just disappeared.
As my energy grew stronger it didn’t match the vibration of alcohol.
It doesn’t matter what the habit is….for some it may be too much wine, for another it is that bag of Oreo cookies or salted caramels.
In order to change a pattern you must bring present moment awareness to it.
I’ve always used the “5 c’s of health, healing, and transformation” to create change and manifest any new outcome or desire.
Here’s how you can use the first three “C’s” to break free.
Step 1 is clarity. When you’re getting ready to break your promise to yourself and you are reaching for that second glass of wine….or a second handful of cookies…stop. Take a deep breath, and catch yourself in the act. This is bringing the repetitive habit into the present moment of awareness.
Here I am pouring the glass of wine, stop, breathe, and ask yourself, “What am I doing”?
Why am I doing this?
Which usually breaks down to “what am I feeling right now that I don’t like”? What am I trying to avoid, stuff, or bury? That’s why we create bad habits…to numb ourselves from our feelings and emotions. (Lonely, not good enough, frustrated, scared, worried, to name just a few).
Identify the feeling and discomfort so you can face it. It may take a few minutes but just keep breathing and focus on your heart center and/or gut, (solar plexus). Don’t take any action until you identify it. Facing it, truly, will not be nearly as bad as continuing to go against yourself and then piling more guilt and shame in to the mix.
Step 2 is to identify the cause of the unpleasant emotion or feeling. This usually correlates to a false and negative “story” ego mind has made up about our worthiness, (or lack thereof), or not fitting in, etc. This is where your power lies…unraveling the story and moving yourself towards the truth.
Nine times out of 10 the negative things we have chosen to tell ourselves about our childhood, boss, siblings, spouse, or kids has little to do with our karma and more to do with the soul plan of others involved.
I’ve found so many people in the spiritual community stay stuck, needlessly, because they tell themselves, “Well, I agreed to this before I came in, so there must be a reason or lesson for it and I’m not moving on until I get it and figure it out”. They mistakenly think that they are at a higher level of spiritual development if they own the issue as their “karma”. But that isn’t at all true.
Many people needlessly take on energy of other’s karma when in actuality, it was not theirs and had nothing to do with them or their soul lessons. (More on that in another blog post).
Just ask yourself where this feeling or emotion originated from…..it’s going to boil down to one core emotion or feeling.
Step three is to shift and clear.
Identifying the cause usually comes down to anger or fear. Identify the root of the emotion. Emotions of fear and anger hold a particularly low energy frequency in our body. And it’s those emotions we are usually trying to stuff with our addictions or seemingly uncontrollable behaviors.
So how do we shift it all?
You can use any technique that is effective at changing the energy in your cells. I highly recommend that you start learning some self-healing techniques that you can do at home.
Relying on a monthly healing session with a practitioner to create this kind of change is not enough! You simply must move toward learning how to do this for yourself and make a commitment to it and your own spiritual development and practice.
Anger is typically stored in the liver. Energetically, a healthy liver is an organ that processes physical toxins. Drinking too much wine is often an attempt to further bury toxic emotions that we are afraid of. The organ is so busy processing wine that it doesn’t have energy to make the shift to spiritual consciousness and to process the emotions.
All of our organs hold, not only the job of physical health maintenance and metabolism but, they carry a spiritual consciousness and vibration as well, that is set to our unique soul print and plan.
Personally, I spent my early years of spiritual development and growth being misled by tools for shifting vibration and consciousness that were not effective. And many of my clients come to me with that same dilemma… the things they’ve tried just don’t work.
So what have I found to be the most effective?
If you know me, you know I’m going to say mantras
Hundreds of my clients over the years have learned to shift long-standing energy blocks and consciousness with the mantras I’ve taught them. They are my favorite and most powerful tool because they work in, around and from the field of infinite creation….pure potentiality and Divine Love.
In order for a consciousness tool to be effective, it has to take you out of your mind, the mind that created the fear and emotion in the first place. And it has to bring you into yourself, your true self, your higher self,–and the vibration and consciousness of the Love you were created from.
Too often, people use a tool in order to annihilate a symptom or problem, rather than using it to bring themselves closer to their state of Divine self.
This is where your power and transformation lies. Change happens when you move toward the discomfort and replace it with the truth, rather than stuffing it in your body. You think it’s gone…but ask anyone who has healed “the past”, they will tell you it was there lurking all along.
The healing and correction starts in the present moment when you reach for the habit. Remind yourself that this is something you want to correct. Stop, use these steps and then create a spiritual practice to change the hold that the emotion and vibration have on you.
Whatever tool you choose, be sure to do it consistently!
Too often people are just about to have their breakthrough and they give up.
You have to be willing to make a commitment to yourself!
Decide that you are worth it!
Go against the grain, instead of going against yourself!
